I thought that I was supposed to die in both universes, and that for the words to heal I had to be erased-- September disagrees.

The night my father was supposed to find the cure for my illness was an important historical event for... them... and considering my condition was extremely rare, I can only assume I was supposed to become an important historical figure in that universe.

I think both universes were meant to come in contact at some point during my lifetime. And there wasn't supposed to be a war...

The machine already existed, and it was made for me. I assume, had I grown up in the right universe, I would have activated the machine eventually and created the bridge.

It does. Jones would have still done exactly the same he did. The first time he crossed over was three years ago.

Yeah... and the cortexiphan trials started before I got sick, so that would have happened too. So, if Walter hadn't crossed over to save me, the other side wouldn't have started decaying... Jones' incursions have gone largely unnoticed, so whatever he's using isn't damaging anything.
